I just learned that Alice Munro received the Nobel Prize for Short Stories. Amazing that short stories are finally receiving their overdue recognition. As well as Ms. Munro.

I also just learned that Alice Munro uses three editors. Three! I wonder if her editors provide a service beyond that of editing. That service might be to prevent Ms. Munro from throwing up if she had to look at her work one more time.

Mind you, her editor for the New Yorker is in place at the New Yorker. Her other two are also in some fine professional publishing spot.  Toni Morrison’s editor is the head of the publishing house where she delivers her works.

Top writers have top editors. These writers need not reach for the Bromo.
